Thinking about why we exist is and finding the answer to it is hard. No one can answer why about why you exist right now, they only know how. We are born in this planet without our own will. We didn’t chose who are parents or maybe where do we suppose to grow up, we are just born. So, the topic that I had in mind is Existentialism, the one where you contemplate why you exist and such. I thought that it’s just bizarre how a human mind works. Because if they say that their ‘God’ planned what will happen in the future, doesn’t it mean that we are not doing the things that were doing in our own free will. If there is really a ‘free will’ in that statement then the sentence have to mean the complete polar opposite. Accepting what happened is the cause of one’s actions this is what you would normally think if you exclude the existence of God. I realized that people use this way of thinking as to reinforce their mental stability, in short to calm themselves believing that everything will go fine. Most of the time they accept their current situation as it is and just do nothing until help comes. It deceives people into not thinking on their own. For me to resolve this, I just think that god is what a person thinks when they are imagining themselves as a perfect person, so perfect perhaps that it didn’t belong in this world full of sin. It’s something holy, forgiving, understanding and all the attributes that can make a person perfect. The image of their god reflects their imaginary perfect selves. When I started to notice that there were many gods, I became confused. Thinking to myself who should I believe and follow? Probably that the true purpose of the true God is to unite people and not to split them apart. So today, I think that almost all teachings from different churches are to benefit the church themselves and not the people who followed it. From my personal experience, the church that I used to attend, it’s always the case that you donate money to them. If you missed some days in attending the church, you’ll be bombarded with messages online. It feels like it’s not a church it’s more of a cult. I mean so what if you don’t attend if you don’t attend because you have something urgent or even just you don’t feel like it? It’s should be a place for socialization, in order to teach the people who attend that really we all have connections even though we have different types of morals. People in the church should also exercise what they teach.
We need some kind of connection to one another in order for us to coexist, even though it is not a direct one. It’s hardwired into us, what we know about socialization comes from the fact that we don’t want to be an outcast, that we want to belong in a group because that’s how humans live and survive. It’s a natural instinct to procreate and pass on your genes, so is also the dos and don’ts to not to be kicked out of a society. People prefer to be in a group because our ancestors cannot survive without it. How you speak in front is how the people will remember you. You messed up, then there is a possibility that people will think that you are weird and will cast you aside. As for our ancestors, this meant death because they wouldn’t have any access to food, shelter, water, procreation and so on. Humans are social beings, we can’t live by ourselves only. There is also another flaw in the way of thinking that everything is planned accordingly by God. If that is the case then there is no free will. Nothing we do is reflects on who we are because we are preconditioned to do the thing we think that we do because we have free will. That kind of life is not worth living for me because I don’t get to decide for myself.
Because I’m a Christian who formerly attends church daily I can say that this topic is related to my life. Speaking of which, my life currently is neither good or bad it’s just a mix-up of both. It’s mostly composed of bad things, but I’m not complaining because I know everyone has their fair share of bad luck regardless if you are rich or poor. In order for me to not stray away from the things I think is right, I exercise my philosophies daily because at the end of the day I am the only one who can shape my own self. One of the examples of my philosophy is that ‘be patient and do things at your own phase’. Because not everyone is created equally and every time you do something it adds up weather it’s a big or a small act. Being patient is always a virtue. Imagine this, if you go to the gym and do a full body work out, you strain yourself so hard just to lift the biggest weights you can possibly lift, then you ask your friends what changed in your body in such a short period of time. Of course they would not know what changed because you only lifted that day, even if you lifted your heart out that day. Instead you can do is lift only what you can normally lift, then do it on a regular basis until it becomes a habit. As time passes by you would start to notice changes in your body, particularly the one part you always use to exercise with. Some call this technique ‘Cutting edge’ because you cut the work bit by bit then start working on it. Instead of just investing effort, you also invest your time to achieve your personal goal. Another great example is a scenario where you have a rich uncle and he gave you two options; one where you receive a million dollars and the other where you receive a penny in the first day, but he will double it every day in a span of 30 days. By doing simple math, the second choice offers much more money than the first choice. But the catch is that you’ll have to have patience wait 30 days to receive the full amount of it. If I applied this philosophy to my everyday life, I’m sure that someday it will pay off.
